Powered by a Rockchip RK3566 processor with a quad-core Cortex-A55 CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 2EE GPU, it provides adequate performance for emulating classic systems. The device features a 4.3-inch IPS display with a 480x272 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio), 60Hz refresh rate, and a pixel density of 128.3 PPI. It comes with either 512 MB or 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and internal storage of 64 GB (questionable), expandable via MicroSD. The 4000 mAh battery offers extended playtime, and the plastic build weighs 450 grams. Audio is mono via a single speaker or 3.5mm headphone jack.

Who It Is For

This handheld is ideal for budget-conscious retro gamers who want to play titles from N64, PSP, and Dreamcast. It offers decent performance for many games, though some may not run at full speed. The open-source OS appeals to tinkerers, and the vertical grip may suit those who prefer that form factor. It is not suitable for demanding modern games or high-end emulation.

Buying Notes

Priced around $76 at launch (estimated range $75-$100), the M18 / R43 Pro is a low-cost entry into retro handheld gaming. The internal storage claim of 64 GB is uncertain, so rely on MicroSD for expansion. Performance varies by game; check community forums for specific titles. The plastic build feels lightweight but may lack premium feel. No video output or vibration motor is included. Available in translucent black/gray color options.
