One XPlayer 2 Review: A Powerful 8.4-Inch Windows Handheld Gaming PC

Overview

The One XPlayer 2, developed by One Netbook, is a premium Windows-based handheld gaming device that combines a large 8.4-inch IPS touchscreen with powerful AMD hardware. Launched in February 2023, it targets gamers who want a portable PC capable of running AAA titles, indie games, and emulators. The device features a comfortable landscape grip, dual stereo speakers, and a robust cooling system.

Key Specs Highlights

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 6800U (8 cores, 16 threads, 2.7 GHz base, 4.7 GHz boost)
  • GPU: Integrated AMD Radeon 680M (2.2 GHz)
  • RAM: 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5x
  • Storage: 1TB or 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, plus MicroSD expansion
  • Display: 8.4-inch IPS touchscreen, 2560x1600 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate
  • Battery: 17100 mAh (65.5Wh)
  • Weight: 862 grams
  • Connectivity: WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C video output, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Sensors: Gyroscope, Hall effect joysticks

Who It Is For

The One XPlayer 2 is ideal for PC gamers who want a handheld device that runs Windows natively, allowing access to Steam, Epic Games, Xbox Game Pass, and other PC game stores. It suits users who prioritize a large, high-resolution screen for immersive gaming and need the flexibility of a full Windows OS for productivity or emulation. Emulation enthusiasts will appreciate its ability to run GameCube, Wii, 3DS, and PS2 games at full speed, with Wii U and Switch titles mostly playable.

Buying Notes

Prices for the One XPlayer 2 range from $700 to $2000, with a starting price of $900. The device is available in black or white plastic casing. Consider the higher RAM (32GB) and storage (2TB) options if you plan to run demanding games or multitask. The 8.4-inch screen offers excellent pixel density (359 PPI) but note the 60Hz refresh rate may not satisfy competitive gamers seeking higher frame rates. The large battery provides extended playtime, but the weight (862g) may be noticeable during long sessions. Verify current pricing and availability from authorized retailers, as deals may vary.
